Lady Royals get comeback win behind Campbell’s 31 to stay undefeated
New Site travelled to Oxford for the Oxford Challenge this week with an undefeated record.
The Lady Royals weren’t ready to take their first loss.
After dispatching Magee on Monday by a score of 68-41, New Site found themselves down 15 points to a scrappy bunch from private school Pillow Academy.
That’s when junior guard Hannah Campbell took over the contest.
Campbell scored all except 6 points after the Lady Royals fell behind big in the second half, notching 20 second half points and 31 for the game, as New Site defeated Pillow Academy in comeback fashion by a score of 41-38.
A Saydee Taylor 3 pointer cut the deficit to just 5 points midway through the 3rd quarter.
After back and forth scoring in a heated contest, a Katelyn Moreland bucket got New Site their first lead at 39-38.
Campbell hit four free throws late in the contest to ensure victory for the Lady Royals.
With the win, New Site is 8-0 on the year. Their next opponent is defending 3A state champion Kossuth on December 3rd.
