Northeast volleyball falls to Itawamba in three sets
Northeast volleyball dropped a nonconference rivalry match at Itawamba in straight sets, according to the college’s September 11 recap. The Indians won 25-17, 25-21 and 25-18 in Fulton, leaving the Tigers at 5-7.
Eliza Whitenton paced Northeast with 10 kills and 12 digs. Brooklyn Chappell led the team with three blocks.
After losing the opener, Northeast built an early second-set lead with contributions from Addy Hicks and Kaylee Estes. Service aces from Addi Vetovitz and Karah Cole helped the Tigers move ahead 12-10, but errors allowed Itawamba to regain control.
The Indians opened the third set with four consecutive points and maintained the advantage. Northeast’s next scheduled match was September 14 at Northwest, followed by a September 16 home rematch with Itawamba to open conference play at Bonner Arnold Coliseum.
