Northeast football enters 2026 with 33 sophomores and returning staff
Northeast’s 2026 football preview highlighted experience and continuity as the Tigers prepared for Greg Davis’ 12th season as head coach. The roster included 33 sophomores, and the previous coaching staff returned with former Tiger Dallas Payne joining to coach running backs and tight ends.
Biggersville product Xae Mayes, the 2025 Class 1A Mr. Football winner, headed the quarterback group. The offensive line faced a rebuilding job with five new starters, while Isaiah Cobbs returned after recording 21 receptions the previous season.
Christian Mays, Russell Davis and J’Cameron Riley anchored an experienced defensive front. Antonio Parker was the leading returning tackler, with Jeb Bolen and Jerone Baskin also among the defenders back for another year.
The August 25 preview outlined a 10-game schedule beginning against East Central on August 27. Northeast had posted winning records in four of its previous six seasons.
