Experienced roster gives Northeast volleyball new depth for 2026

Northeast volleyball entered its fourth season with its deepest roster yet: nine sophomores, including seven returning players, and six freshmen. Coach Brenda Mayes highlighted the increased experience in the college’s August 17 preview.

All-conference outside hitter Eliza Whitenton returned after recording 418 kills and 11 double-doubles. Addy Hicks was also back on the outside, while libero Carine Delfin returned after leading the team with 3.09 digs per set.

Setter Abbey Hall, middle players Brooklyn Chappell and Addi Vetovitz, and defensive specialist Cora Kelly completed the returning group. Transfers Adriana Buckingham and Karah Cole added depth.

Walnut’s Kaylee Estes joined Northeast after winning the 2025 Class 2A Miss Volleyball award and a state championship. Lexi McBrayer arrived as the program’s first athlete planning to play both volleyball and softball. Other freshmen included Ryan Brown, Kamari Parker, Erynn Boddie and Bailey Reese Jones. The schedule began with six road matches before the August 26 home opener.
