Christian Mays and Russell Davis earn national top-50 football rankings

Northeast defensive linemen Christian Mays and Russell Davis were ranked among the nation’s top 50 two-year college football prospects in an August 13 announcement.

Mays was listed second overall by 247Sports and third by On3, with both services rating him their top defensive lineman. The Tennessee commitment also held a four-star rating from 247Sports.

Davis appeared at No. 46 overall in both rankings. He was seventh among defensive linemen on 247Sports and eighth on On3, with three-star ratings from both services.

Mays returned after recording 17 tackles, five tackles for loss, a sack and a pass breakup. Davis had appeared in six games the previous season and attracted recruiting interest that included Jackson State and Southern Miss. The rankings were those reported by Northeast at the time of the release.
