Booneville jumps on Kossuth early to pick up 10-0 run rule victory in key district match

Booneville got an early lead on Kossuth in the top of the first in a key 1-3A matchup on Tuesday night on the road.

The hits kept coming for the Blue Devils and Ben Davis turned in a dominant performance on the mound as Booneville created a logjam at the top of the district standings with a 10-0 victory in 5 innings.

Booneville got 4 runs in the top of the first inning off of Kossuth starter Jaxin Settlemire. Kyle Church and Jackson McCoy each doubled followed by an RBI single from Ben Davis and a 2-RBI single from John Daniel Deaton. Gage Harrelson then drove in Deaton as the Blue Devils got all of the scoring they needed on a night when Davis was in full control on the mound.

The Blue Devils tacked on a pair of runs on a Davis double in the top of the 4th for a 6-0 lead that chased the Kossuth starter from the mound and brought in freshman Hunter Hutchens.

The Blue Devils would go right back to work at the plate the following inning.

Ben Sandlin, Ben Davis and Jackson McCoy would pick up RBI base hits in the top of the 5th inning to get a 10-0 lead.

McCoy would lead the Blue Devils at the plate with a trio of hits including a pair of doubles. Davis would take the win on the mound and contribute 4 RBI at the plate.

The Blue Devils move to 12-9 on the season (6-2) while the Aggies fall to 15-8 (7-2). The two are back in action Thursday at Booneville.
