Lady Bearcats turn up heat on defense to advance to state championship game
Baldwyn found themselves trailing 7-0 early in their biggest game of the season to this point.
That was a problem.
The solution? Defend like you don’t want your season to end.
The Lady Bearcats only allowed 20 total points after falling behind early and punched their ticket to the state final with a 47-28 victory over Sacred Heart.
Baldwyn forced 25 turnovers and out rebounded Sacred Hart 41-25 to secure the win.
I’Yana Ragin drained a buzzer beating 3 to end the first quarter and Amarie Anderson put up 7 first quarter points to give Baldwyn a 14-10 advantage.
Anderson would lead with 15 points. Ragin added 12 points and 6 assists. La’Embri McGaha put up 9 rebounds.
Baldwyn moves on to take on 3 time defending champ Pine Grove at Ole Miss on Thursday.
