Northeast volleyball sweeps Bethel JV, falls to Jackson State

Northeast split its September 5 volleyball doubleheader in Jackson, Tennessee, sweeping Bethel’s junior varsity before losing in four sets to Jackson State. The Tigers finished the day at 5-6.

Northeast edged Bethel 25-23 and 26-24 in the opening two sets, then pulled away 25-19 to complete the sweep. Eliza Whitenton led the Tigers with 11 kills, while Abbey Hall served six aces.

Jackson State won the second match 25-22, 20-25, 25-17 and 25-20. Northeast produced 18 kills in its second-set victory but could not sustain that pace through the final two sets.

Addy Hicks led Northeast with 14 kills against Jackson State, and Hall added five aces. The September 7 recap described a competitive second match in which the Tigers continued to generate offense but were unable to force a deciding fifth set.
